Protesters Disrupt Stella Oduah’s Award Ceremony In London

An award event in London was on Thursday night disrupted by some protesting Nigerian women who kicked against the inclusion of the Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah as one of the recipients of the awards.

The event, which held at the Radison Hotel, Central London, was organized by the Global Peace Movement to present “Peace, Development and Security” award to Governor Yero; while the Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah, was to get an award for “Aviation transformation and best performing minister in Nigeria”.

The chaos started when the citation of Ms. Oduah, who was represented, was being read as prelude to the presentation of the award.

Suddenly, a woman who gave her name as Taiwo Akpabio started speaking and shouting, condemning the conferment of the award on Ms. Oduah.

Speaking at the top of her voice, Ms. Akpabio said it was shameful and insulting for the organizers to give an award to the minister after series of air mishaps in the country under her watch, which resulted in loss of many lives, as well as the alleged scandal in the purchase of the bullet-proof BMW cars involving the minister.

Chaos and confusion descended on the venue for sometime as all efforts to calm down the protester failed.

The three brothers were spotted in South Africa yesterday, where they are preparing to attend Channel O Africa Music Video Awards today, 30th of November, 2013. A video of a certain girl named Sharkeisha punching and beating up another girl has gone viral on social media.

Though the video was originally posted on Instagram, it found its way to other sites like Facebook, Vine & Twitter after Instagram took it down because it violated their regulations.

According to social media, the girls in the video are allegedly named Sharkeisha and Shay. The first punched the latter in the face with a full forced slug, as another person recorded it.
The fight allegedly started over a boy.

A healing river was reportedly discovered in Nachi Oji River in Enugu State, last week. The healing river nicknamed the “Pool of Bethsaida” and appears every 20 years.

This year, the pool was discovered by fulani herdsmen who were on their way to feed their cattle. According to them, they passed the spot where the water usually came from and there wasn’t any water, but on their way back they discovered the whole place has been covered with water.

According to the oldest man in the community, the water appears every 20 or 30 years, they first saw
it in 1971.

Comedian Julius Agwu has dragged telecoms giant Etisalat to court for blocking his business line. He is demanding for N100million as compensation for jobs lost, contact lost, for the inconveniences, and for being mistreated by Etisalat staff. Below is a statement from his lawyer, Festus Keyamo...

An Indian couple have been jailed for life for slitting the throats of their 13-year-old daughter and a servant after finding them in an "objectionable" situation.

Rajesh and Nupur Talwar were accused of killing teenager Aarushi and their domestic servant Hemraj at their New Delhi home in May 2008.

After a long-running case that has gripped the country, the couple broke down in court yesterday after they were found guilty.

Today the prosecutors had asked for the death penalty against the pair, who are both dentists and claim they are victims of police incompetence.

Cardiff City FC striker Osaze Peter Odemwingie has lost over £70,000 to a British woman.The 38 year-old Claire Duke has appeared in court to defend herself for her involvement in the fraud.
She was charged with conning thousands of pounds from Premiership footballers while working as their “lifestyle coach.”
The Briton is also accused of defrauding high-profile clients including Osaze of more than £70,000 over a one year period.
It is alleged Duke received money for holidays and flights from clients but kept the money for herself.
She appeared at Cannock Magistrates’ Court in Staffordshire last Wednesday charged with five counts of fraud and one of theft.
Between September 1 last year and July 10 of this year she is accused of making a total of £71,106.83 fraudulently. Included in the charges is that while Duke was the lifestyle consultant of 32-year-old Odemwingie, she allegedly stole £15,437.67 by using his debit card.
Dressed smartly in a grey dress and black blazer, Duke spoke only to confirm her name and age in court.

Akon denies discriminating against dark-skinned girls in Ghana

A Ghanaian fashion blogger, FashionGhana.com, last week claimed that Akon and Wizkid requested for only light-skinned models and refused dark-skinned ones from appearing in their music video. Well, Akon says the reports is absolutely false.

"That doesn't even make any sense, that don't make no sense at all" he told TMZ. When asked again if the story was false, Akon laughed and said 'It's absolutely not true"

Man With 3 Wives Sentenced To Death By Stoning For Impregnating Sister

Upper Sharia court in Bauchi has sentenced a 30-year-old man, Umar Mohammed Kandahar to death by stoning, for impregnating his younger sister.

The court records, made available to journalists on Wednesday in Bauchi , showed that Umar was arraigned before Upper Sharia Court Unguwar Jaki, by the Bauchi State Shari’ah Commission, where he was accused of impregnating his younger sister from the same father.

Counsel to the Shariah Commission, Barrister Dayyabu Ayuba, told the court that the suspect is married with three wives, but forcefully had sex with his younger sister.

According to Ayuba, the younger sister was brought to his house by their father to help take her to school, but instead, he forced her and had sexual intercourse with her, when she was 16 years old. The act resulted in pregnancy and she has already delivered a baby, contrary to section 136(1) of the Bauchi State Penal code law 2001.

When asked by the presiding Shariah court judge, the accused pleaded guilty, but disagreed that he forced her to have sexual intercourse; instead he maintained that she accepted to have a sex with him. The Shariah Court Judge, Musa Barde sentenced him to death by stoning.

Meanwhile, the accused, has filed an appeal against the judgment before the Bauchi State Sharia Court of Appeal, arguing that he did not agree with the judgment.

Counsel to Umar, Barrister Sadiq Abubakar on Wednesday, filed a motion before Bauchi State High court number seven, asking for the bail of the accused, pending the determination of his appeal by the Sharia Court of appeal.

He told the court that the accused family suffered because of his detention since 2011 and asked the court to release him on bail, to ease the sufferings of his family.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Aliyu Baba Usman, has fixed Monday, November 25, 2013, for mentioning of the appeal.

Kelly Rowland is a single lady no more!

Sources confirmed to Us Weekly that the 32 years old former Destiny Child singer is engaged to marry her manager and boyfriend Tim Witherspoon.
Rumors that Witherspoon had popped the question circulated when Rowland was seen wearing a large diamond ring in a video on a pal's Instagram account.
This will be Kelly's first marriage.
She was previously engaged to football player Roy Williams; they split in January 2005, two months before their planned wedding.
"I was too young for marriage," the British X Factor judge later told Cosmopolitan UK of their breakup. "But sometimes you fall down and you learn from it.

It was truly a night of style and sophistication as various designers created wonderful pieces that wowed the audience. The ladies were all so glamorously dressed up considering it was a fashion cum music show it was really hard telling the guests from the models.

Guests were treated to the panache and style courtesy Baileys. The ladies were given free make –over and touch ups, while all guests enjoyed Bailey’s Irish Cream at the spectacular Baileys lounge that was set up for guest at the show.

Last Friday in Abuja, gunmen reportedly attacked and fired at a car belonging to the Minister of Aviation, Ms Stella Oduah.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Altine Daniel, speaking for the police, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the incident occurred at about 10pm on Friday, but was only reported to the police on Monday.

Confirming the incident, the minister’s spokesperson, Joe Obi claimed that the shooting took place at Ministers’ Hill in Maitama area of the Federal capital territory, Abuja.

It was not clear if the vehicle was the Minister’s private car, or an official one, but Ms. Daniel said Ms. Oduah was fortunately not in the vehicle when the incident took place.

You were in Ibadan recently for the MTN Loud Naija event, what was it like, seeing a lot of people turning out to watch you and other musicians’ perform?

Honestly, the feeling was
great. I have been to Ibadan a couple of times, but this last show was something special. What thrilled me most that night was the fact that we had a lot of young and old people showing us love. The impression we had was that Ibadan people don’t go out at night, that they always retire to bed early. So, when I was about to perform and I saw the huge crowd, I said to myself that I better give these people the best of my performance. I am happy that they really had fun because I did too.

It was the ELOY Awards 2013 last night, and Tonto Dikeh won the best actress of the year award. She got on stage to thank her fans and guests at the awards and later introduced her boyfriend, Michael Awolaja to the crowd, which most people know as Malivelihood. The leadership of the Academic Staff Union of University, ASUU, has said that the 4month old strike would only be called off if the federal government pays them their four month salary arrears since the inception of the strike as well as the full implementation of the N1.2trillion federal govt proposed funding for public universities with the immediate release of N100billion this year. The remaining N1.1trillion would be spread for 5 years.

They made this resolution after their Friday November 23rd National Executive Council meeting held in Kano state. A meeting between them and President Jonathan is been called for by the association before they can call off the strike.

Angola Bans Islam, Begins Demolition Of Mosques

According to multiple reports coming from Angola, Mosques in the country have been closed down and some even destroyed.

The Guardian reports that on November 22, the Angolan Minister of Culture Rosa Cruz e Silva said that “the process of legalization of Islam has not been approved by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights and so their mosques would be closed until further notice.”

The minister also said that the closing of mosques was done in a move to stop so-called 'illegal religious sects.' Under new laws in Angola, many religious sects have suddenly become criminal.

Yesterday November 24, Angola President José Eduardo dos Santos said that the country is working toward putting an end to Islamic influence in Angola once and for all while the Governor of Luanda, Bento Bento, said that “radical” Muslims are not welcome in the country and that the Angolan government will not be legalizing mosques or other places of worship for Muslims.
