Cee Lo Green Charged with Supplying Ecstasy

Cee Lo Green Charged with Supplying Ecstasy

Cee Lo Green could face up to four years in prison after being charged Monday with giving a woman ecstasy.

The Voice mentor, 39, was charged with one felony count of furnishing a controlled substance to an unidentified 33-year-old woman in July 2012, according to a statement issued by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Green, whose real name is Thomas DeCarlo Callaway, was allegedly dining at a restaurant in downtown L.A. with the woman when he slipped her ecstasy, according to the statement. The two later went back to the woman's hotel room.

Prosecutors declined to file a sexual assault charge against the TV personality, who was originally accused of rape of an intoxicated person. Prosecutors cited insufficient evidence and ask that his bail be set for $30,000.

Green's attorney, Blair Berk, described the singer's relationship with the woman as "consensual," and with regard to the drug charge, stated that Green "will responsibly address that matter in a court of law but not comment on it further out of respect for the process."

Calls to Green's rep were not immediately returned.
